Day 27 – July 15: Home!

We started the day early (for us).  Don’t know why, we just both woke up and decided it was time to go.

So after our complimentary breakfast we loaded the car and departed for the last leg of our odyssey.

One advantage of an early start in this part of the country is that you get some interesting lighting on the rock formations

We flew past the Provo/Salt Lake/Ogden metroplex taking advantage of the (empty) HOV lane and soon found ourselves in very familiar territory. The road between Snowville Utah and Boise is a stretch we travel often.  It almost seemed like we were at home at that point.

Still we had the Mountain Home desert to cross

I should note that the humidity was 20%

Eventually even that fell behind us and we took the final picture

27 days, 7,200 miles, abundant adventures and serendipity when we least expected it.  It has truly been an odyssey and we appreciate all the friends and relations who helped to make it an exceptional experience.

One last meal report.  It is our tradition, upon arriving home from a trip, that our first meal is take-out from our favorite Mongolian Bar-b-Que restaurant.

Bon Appetit!
