Day 2 – 10/24 – Onward to Colorado Springs

We were up and on the road early this morning, not because we were in such a lather to get to Colorado Springs, but because we needed to get to the Denver airport in time to meet Kim and  Spencer’s 2:07 plane.

Along the way we crossed the great divide basin (and therefore the Continental Divide twice) and marveled at the number of snow fences arrayed south of the freeway.

We also saw the west’s largest wind farm (100 turbines generating over 100 mw of power)

We squeaked in at 2:05 and had to wait for them to wend their way thru the concourse to the train for the ride to the terminal.  We eventually met up with them, collected their luggage and were off on the last part of the journey.

We arrived in C.Springs in time to find our Air B-n-B house, get settled (somewhat) and wander a few blocks to a small shopping district where we happened on to a restaurant named Rasta Pasta.  If you are EVER in the area you MUST give this restaurant a try.

The vibe was fun, the service was personal and the food was excellent.  S even approved of the Dessert.

After a great meal we wandered a bit more and then headed back to the house where we basically watched S run and play.  He finally wound down and was off to bed.

Tomorrow we will have him most of the day while Kim is at a conference.  Wish us luck.  The kid is a total ball of energy.

I think it’s going to be an early night.  We’ll need all the sleep we can get.

  1. C-At a rest stop in Wyoming, the sign explained that the constant wind is our friend as it is constantly blowing the snow along the valley floor thus keeping it from burying the grass & shrubs so that this is a prime winter forage area for wildlife.
