Day 18 – July 6: On to Virginia Beach

After a leisurely breakfast with the remaining revelers we said good by to the land of horse-drawn buggies

And headed thru the deluge

to Virginia Beach (Virginia)

Along the way we got to experience the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, a 17.6 mile combination of 3 bridges connected by 2 tunnels (or was it 2 tunnels connected by 3 bridges?).

Either way it was a grand experience

Note that the bridges are divided multi-lane highways.
While the tunnels are 2 lane undivided. Makes for an interesting ride

Arriving in V-Beach we raided a local grocery store deli, checked into our motel, and hit the beach.

We spent an hour or so just

relaxing on the beach
testing the waters
watching the moonrise over the waves

And generally enjoying life.

Later we wandered down to the statue of Neptune for photos

And happened upon an outdoor concert by the Virginia Symphony.

True serendipity!

Tomorrow we’ll check out Williamsburg.

Tonight, it’s to bed with the sound of fighter jets landing at the Naval Air Station humming in our ears.

Nite all.
