Not your typical sea day.

First, we’re in between colds. I’m better (but not quite 100%) and Cheryl’s getting it.

Second, the big all-consuming event today is this evening’s talent show.

We did make the 9:30 lecture this morning “the Roman Empire” – 1,300 years of history in 45 minutes.

After that romp thru history Cheryl returned to the room to nap while Randy scuttled off to a final quartet rehearsal.
That accomplished he returned to the room in case Cheryl was awake and wanted to take in the 11:00 lecture on the allied campaign in 1943to capture Sicily. She wasn’t, and didn’t.

12:15 saw us in the Theatre for the talent show tech rehearsal. This started with the chorus and then moved to the individual acts. So after the chorus was done Cheryl headed for lunch while Randy waited around until the quartet’s turn on stage. Then he ate.

Back in the room we read and napped and blogged until 6:00 when we joined the 5 other Randys on board (and their spouses) for a celebratory dinner.

We were still enjoying the company of Randys at 8:00 so we missed BBB – sad but true.

But at 8:30 we were in line to enter the Theater (doors opened shortly thereafter).

It was a great show – a good variety of acts. Our quartet “The 4 Seasoned Seniors” drew a good amount of applause for our rendition of “You’re Just Too Good To Be True”

(You’ll hear some applause when Tim and I start to sing. We started the song and about 1:11 in a tech ran on stage to turn on our microphones. Then they had us start the song over again.)

…and the NepTUNE Singers Rock Medley brought the house down so we encored with a geriatric version of “My Favorite Things.”

Being high on adrenaline we joined Pat and Denny for a drink in the Living Room Bar.

Then it was bedtime.

Tomorrow is Sicily.

Nite all,
R

  1. Tim and Dad- I want you to start YouTubeLive streaming performances on deck for the rest of the trip! You two are cracking me up!

  2. Dinner with the Randys is cracking me up. I’m imagining that Doctor, Doctor scene from spies like us. “Randy?” “Randy.” “Randy?” “Randy.”

Also agree that the Tim/Randy show needs to go viral. Hilarious

  3. I’m curious about the talent show, since we will be going on a world cruise in 2024/25. Did anyone bring along musical instruments? Are there private spaces on the boat to practice? I play flute, and would not want to subject people in surrounding cabins to the sounds of those high piercing notes!

    1. Flute-yes, tuba-not so much. <- This is a joke. Several people have brought their own instruments. Our quartet was able to secure time in the Torshaven (nightclub) which is often available during the day. The Explorer's Desk can help with arrangements. Hope that helps.
