Day 12 – June 30: On to Clare

Today we drove from Ashland Wisconsin to Clare Michigan for the rehearsal dinner.

Along the way we stopped to take pictures of 3 of the Great Lakes:

OK, we didn’t stop, but we did get two lakes in this picture – Michigan (foreground) and Huron (no the other side of the road)

We also got to drive over the Mackinac bridge (Big Mac)

  

The bridge is 5 miles long and 552 feet high.  It’s central span (1,158 m) is the third longest in the US.  It’s hight (552 feet), while not significant over all is still impressive.

After the bridge it was a straight shot down to Clare (Michigan) and the rehearsal dinner.  It was a fun party.  Dave presented a slide show (I’ll post a link as soon as he sends it to me.) that had various aunts, parents, grandparents and others in tears.  The party was still going on when Nana and Papa retired to post this and get some sleep.  Tomorrow, the wedding.
