We had a later (9:00) flight this morning so we luxuriated in an extra 15 minutes of sleep before the alarm woke us up at an almost civilized 6:15 (pause for raspberries).

The Uber driver picked us up at 7:00 for the quick trip to the airport.
He was particularly chatty and we had a great ride talking about Boise history and how he joined in hating the Californication of Idaho (as soon as he moved here from Redding).
The airport was, well BOI. We actually checked a bag for this trip.
We consider checking a bag to be questionable at best, but when you are planning wardrobe for both Greenland and Santorini it somehow makes sense.
Once on board the plane we noticed that the other side of the airport was a bit hazy, so I started taking pictures.

Farther west we lost the smoke and got some spectacular ‘wing shots’ looking north.

We were in Portland for just over an hour before it was back on a plane and off to New York City.
This time we were seated on the Port side of the plane so we got one more great shot of St. Helens,

and Mt. Ranier rising above the clouds.

Not much else happened. We sat, we read, we napped, we occasionally looked out the window

Eventually the view out of our window changed.

We met our driver

An hour later we were across town to our hotel.
We got checked in and followed the desk clerk’s advice for ‘the best Thai restaurant within walking distance that’s still open’ (it was 9:30 at this point).
She directed us to an excellent little ‘hole in the wall’ place.

Back at the room we threw out several possible plans for tomorrow and finally settled on
- sleeping in
- eschewing the included Holiday Inn breakfast in favor of a visit to the crepe and waffle place we passed this evening
- Hanging out or going out (as the spirit moves us)
- Heading over to the ship at about 1:00.
We’ll see how that all works out.
Till then,

I think you get side-eye if you’re in Hell’s Kitchen and opt for Holiday Inn breakfast bar. Good call 😉
Yep – even in the rain.
