Kilpatrick 25: Toronto – Day 3 – 7/4/25 – Around and About in Toronto

With no real plans for today we set out looking for a likely breakfast place.

Tim Horton’s are ubiquitous in Canada. The interesting architecture is seen all over the place here.

Along the way we got a text from Brad – Interest in heading somewhere and getting breakfast along the way? You Bet!

So we met up with Brad, Lily, and Carl to do a bit of exploring.
Our Uber driver on Wednesday had mentioned the network of tunnels connecting the buildings in the downtown area. The map we got from the concierge at the hotel actually included a map of the “PATH.” So we found an entrance and started exploring.

What we found was that each building used its sub-surface floor to provide space for commerce – stores and eateries and such. These areas were connected by nicely finished hallways.
We had breakfast at a large food court and walked to the financial district and back underground.
Very interesting.

Following this Cheryl and I had an errand to run.

That accomplished we met the Marshalls and the Pelusos back at the hotel and crossed the street to IKEA for lunch.

Gotta get me some meatballs!

While it’s not exotic or uniquely local it’s not something we get to experience in Boise and they are good.

Next up was a trip to the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum).
We walked a couple of blocks to the subway station and rode north to the museum stop.
The museum is a large collection of artifacts and information from multiple areas and eras.

After too short a time in the museum we headed back to get ready for dinner.
This was a hosted dinner and formal meeting of the reunion, catered by the hotel.
The food was excellent and plentiful with great variety.
The company was unmatched.
During dinner Jen had organized a slide-show of photos from prior reunions that provide good humor and fond memories.
Following dinner she ran an on-line survey where people showed preferences for different aspects of reunions. This will aid in planning future reunions.

The next reunion will be held around the 4th of July 2028 in Greenfield Ohio (Where the G3 Kilpatrick girls grew up).

Following dinner several of us retired to a handy alcove for a game of Shut Up Orville.

Great day, Great people, Great time!

Tomorrow we head to Niagara.
Till then…
