Day 25 – July 13: Dash for the barn 1

Following breakfast we bid farewell to the Norman contingent and headed west.

We spend the day following the path (if not the actual) Route 66 across Oklahoma, North Texas, and New Mexico ending the day in Albuquerque.

Because this was basically a travel day there won’t be many photos.

We did get a shot of a range fire near Amarillo TX

And we were impressed with some of the rest areas

Welcome to Texas
Women’s Room / Tornado Shelter
Welcome to New Mexico (home of red dirt)

The high point of the day wasn’t when Cheryl almost ran us out of gas in the middle of the New Mexico desert.  It was dinner.  The people at the motel recommended Nexus the brew pub next door

There some of us caught up on our social media

While I had an excellent bowl of Gumbo and two of the finest beers I’ve had anywhere on the trip.

Tomorrow we head for Price.  Although there’s not telling how long it will take us to get there because our route takes us thru Moab and there’s this rock shop that has been calling out to Cheryl.

Wish me luck.

Cheers, R
