Day 2 – 1/13/20 – Still on the Road

It’s 12:45 AM on Tuesday the 14th. We had arrived at Heraklion, Crete and checked into our hotel.

Considering that we left home at 10:30 Sunday morning, we’ve been on the road 29 hours and change.

We’ve seen the insides of 4 airplanes and made 3 rather harried connections.

Love Love Love seat maps. This is our flight from San Francisco to Istanbul
And this is our flight from Istanbul to Athens. The other planes were too small to have this service.

But in the end, we’re all here and so is our luggage. Sad to say I lost a chocolate bet on that last piece. Most checked luggage skipped the stop in Athens and went directly to Crete. Interesting.

So that’s the day today. Now we try to sleep. Tomorrow the first event is at 1:00 so we’ll see how we feel by then.

I forgot to include the obligatory wing shot in yesterday’s post. This is leaving Boise.

Nite all,

R

    1. We actually slept better than on previous long flights. Istanbul wasn’t a problem, except for the fact that our plane was an hour late arriving so the rep. from Turkish Airlines met us at the gate and literally ran us to the connecting flight so we just had time to say “nice airport” (it’s new) and were gone.
