We arose, breakfasted at the hotel (where we met Arlene; Not your typical Best Western Breakfast person Arlene is friendly, chatty, attentive, and interested in “her people”.) and headed over to the house. At the appointed hour we departed in caravan for the Las Angeles National Cemetery (the military cemetery where Billie’s father is buried).
We were pleased to be invited. Billie Farley’s mother, Thelma Freeman, passed away some time ago. And (for a lot of reasons) her ashes hadn’t been interred. Eventually the date was set (January 26) and Billie asked if we would like to participate. We had developed a rather close relationship with Thelma over the years.
