We left Boise on August 2, headed for New York, where we boarded the Viking Vela for a voyage from New York to Reykjavik with an extension to Bergen and Oslo. That trip is chronicled in the series “Iceland Cruise, August 2026”
The next step was a transfer from Oslo to Athens where we boarded the Viking star for a voyage from Athens to Venice.
Along the way we stopped in Hamburg to visit with our good friends Freddy and Gitta Scheld, and to celebrate their daughter Silke’s birthday. That transitional adventure is chronicled in the next post of this series, along with the events of the first afternoon and evening on board.
