Where are you going to go when it’s cold and dreary in Boise? We took a cruise in the Sea of Cortez with Uncruise adventures. This cruise was short on shore excursions, but VERY long on exploration activities.

Day 9 – 1/12 – Homeward Bound

We were rudely awakened this morning by the alarm clock telling us it was near time to have our suitcases out in the hall so they could be loaded onto the bus while we were at breakfast. Breakfast was a rather hurried affair – though it needn’t have been, but there you go. We said […]

Day 8 – 1/11 – La Paz

What an interesting day! We were scheduled for the 11:00 whale shark run. UnCruise uses a private vendor for these excursions.  Shortly after breakfast the expedition leader (JP) announced that over night in Mexico, the rules had changed.  Vendors were limited to 10 guests per run.  We were scheduled for almost twice that per boat.

Day 7 – 1/10 – Isla Espiritu Santo

Today we returned to Espiritu Santo (the boat usually moves at night so at dawn you are in your new location for the day).  You may remember Day 3 when we awoke to witness the call of the sea lion at dawn. Today we experienced those sea lions close up. Breakfast today was early as

Day 6 – 1/9 – Isla San Francisco

We woke up this morning in the beautiful half-moon bay at the small island of San Francisco. The day’s activities included a guided nature walk in the morning and snorkeling in the afternoon. Day 5 – 1/8 – Isla Carmen, Arroyo Blanco

We woke up this morning anchored off Isla Carmen. This morning after breakfast we went our separate ways.  Cheryl had a massage at 8:45 and I joined a dozen other passengers at 9:00 for a guided snorkeling expedition. Our guide was Jenny from Boise (and biology major from College of Idaho). We donned our wetsuits

Day 2 – 1/5 – On to the ship

We woke up reasonably late this morning, took care of a bit of business involving the in-room safe, and headed out to the breakfast buffet.  Suitably sated we repaired to the room to change into more appropriate clothing and went for a walk on the beach.  The tide was coming in and the waves were

Day 1 – 1/4 – On the Road!

This is a “good news/bad news” thing. Because we only recently retuned from Christmas in Oklahoma there wasn’t really a need to clean house for the dog sitter. That was the good news. The bad news is that we were booked on the 6:00 AM flight to Seattle. Which means that the alarm was set
