It was a short trip back to Bavaria this morning.
But long enough to enjoy the mountains playing hide and seek among the clouds

Arriving at the bus parking lot in Mittenwald it was just a short walk into the city center.

Similar to Obammergau yesterday painting on buildings is a big deal here.
Our first event of the day was an introduction to the art and craft of violin making.
Biggest learning: The top of the violin is a drum.

After the lecture we had a chance to tour the violin museum.

Leaving the museum we stopped by the church.
Here are a couple of indications that it’s a church in a town where people spend a lot of time carving wood.

After the church we wandered around town, finding the railroad station, buying this and that, checking out flowers that shouldn’t still be there in mid September…

Speaking of buying things, we didn’t buy these (too hard to pack) but thought they were really cute.

We met up with the group for lunch at a local eatery.
We were entertained by a duo who sang traditional Bavarian melodies – accompanied by Guitar and accordion.

After lunch it was back to the bus and back to Seefeld.
We were scheduled to meet Antonia in the bar at 5:00 to review our add-on charges and whip out the ol’ credit card.
That accomplished Cheryl tactfully retreated as Antonia turned to me and said, “So, I understand you know computers.”
What followed was an adventure in working with Excel, on a Windows computer, in Italian.
Finally figured it out. She was amazed so I explained the ‘What’s this button do?’ Philosophy of technical support. But Hey, it worked so I’m amazing.
Tomorrow we move to Munich – the last stop on our trek thru the Alps.
Not much time there, but we’ve been there before so we’re not too disappointed.
We have plans to visit the Alte Pinocatec in the afternoon. That’s enough.
Till then…
