We set off, on a wet and cloudy day, for Innsbruck.

Arriving at Innsbruck we bussed thru the city to our parking lot.

Our guide joined our bus and took us on a short orientation tour of the city.
Along the way we passed the university hospital. This one is notable because it is the main trauma hospital for the region. If a helicopter scrapes you up off the ski hill it will land on their helipad. During the ski season they average 260 broken legs per day.
Then we set out on foot to explore in more detail.

We circled the palace and entered the courtyard while our guide discussed the rulers of Austria and their succession.
Next we wandered thru town checking out various sites and buildings.

Along the way we stopped by the cathedral.

In the inner courtyard of a typical street-front building our guide discussed living in the city and the importance of light to the residents.

Then it was off to lunch.
Lunch was in a small restaurant on the main square.
This establishment was (justly) proud of their beer, brewed on-site.
Following lunch a local tour guide joined us to talk about the role of German women (particularly her own family) during the Second World War.

Following the lecture we had time to browse the Main Street, pick up a few stocking stuffers, and such before it was time to head back to Seefeld.

Dinner (on our own) was at a likely-looking establishment not far from the hotel.
The good meal was followed by a celebration – drinking the second bottle of excellent wine that Billie’s cousin gave her.
We were joined in Billie’s room by our new friends John and Karen.
It was a great small party – good wine, good company, good food (Cheryl’s leftover pizza).
Then we went to bed.
Tomorrow is Oberammergau – passion plays and beautiful house art.
Till then…
