Alpine 25 Day 12 – 9/9/25: Castles and Boat rides

The day started (late) with an orientation walk around the town.

After that we were free till 1:00 – time for lunch and some wandering/shopping.

1:00 saw us on the bus for the trip to the Tratzberg Castle.

There are records of a Tratzberg castle dating back to the 13th century.
Following a fire in 1492 the current iteration of the castle was built with the oldest section completed in 1500.
The castle was sold several times and eventually obtained thru marriage by the Count of Enzenberg.
The current Count maintains residence in the castle to this day.

In our tour of the castle we visited several rooms. They represented different periods of the castle’s history and were extensively furnished with period originals.

Leaving the castle our bus took us to the dock at Seespitz where we boarded a boat for a 6 mile cruise up the lake Achensee.

Along the way the rain stopped and the afternoon was cool and pleasant.

Arriving at Scholastika we walked a short distance to a quaint little restaurant where we were served a typical Tyrollean dinner.
Then it was on the bus for the trip back to the hotel.

Clouds playing with the mountain tops

So that’s Tuesday.

Tomorrow we head to Innsbruck for a day of sightseeing (probably in the rain).

Till then…
